Have You Considered Going to Photography College to pursue you hobby?
Is photography one of your main hobbies or passions? If it is, how serious are you about your hobby? If you are as passionate about photography as I and many other avid photographers are then you, like me will most probably also want to learn as much about it as possible. Photography is one hobby that you can never truly stop learning about. And if you want to truly learn how to capture the most amazing photos then if you haven’t already done so you should consider attending a photography college or school.
Why Should I Bother with a Photography College
At a photography college, you don’t just learn about how to take photos, I mean any dummy can take photos at the end of the day. You will be taught the history of photography and more importantly how photography turned into what it is nowadays and where it is going in the future. At a good photography college, you will also learn about the many different kinds of photography and the varying types of cameras and this will enable you to choose a path most suited to you.
Learning the history of photography may not seem that important but to truly appreciate and gain a deeper understanding of your chosen field is a must in my opinion.
Whilst you could be accustomed to taking digital photos and subsequently printing them out on your inkjet printer, or if you use a film camera you would get them developed at your local photography store. Imagine being able to develop your own pictures, when attending photography college in a darkroom. The creativeness could be left to your imagination. For example you may discover different nuances in lighting in the photo developing stages may have drastic impact on the final result of the photo. In some instances these can result in beautiful art like images, which one cannot do at home.
In photography college you’ll also ascertain a deeper knowledge on the different components of a photographic camera. Even thought today’s cameras are different from the older models and today there are hundreds of models available on the market place they all essentially have the same or similar components. Not only will you learn about the components but you’ll determine how and why you should label these parts, and also realize inner workings of each compent so you know how they work. The side benefit of knowing the mechanics of a camera is that if in the eventuality that your camera stopped working or a part of it seemed faulty you will instantly be able to tell what the problem might be and as a result you may be able to fix the problem yourself.
Warning!! Photography for Serious People Only!
Even though I’m extolling the benefits of attending a photography college I must warn you that if you are considering it, and you think that it really is for you, you must be serious and committed to attending religiously. If you truly want to learn more about photography and can commit to the hours needed then it is highly recommended and thoroughly rewarding.
I must also warn you that the tuition fees can be quite high. And these do not even include purchase of photography equipment which are obviously a prerequisite to joing. These will invariably be in addition to your fees.
If attending a photography college seems a little prohibitive or you are only interested in learning certain aspects of photography a cheaper more practical solution might be to attend an online photography course.
